Dear Families and Students:

Welcome to the Crossroads Academy Alternative School. It is my honor and privilege to serve as the Principal/ Director. At Crossroads, our mission is to increase students’ learning by providing them with meaningful, challenging and engaging academic and social experiences in a safe and supportive alternative environment.

Our school program was designed to offer an alternative to long term out of school suspension for serious behavior infractions and to give students who have struggled at their home school campuses a second chance at success. By attending Crossroads Academy, students are afforded the opportunity to further their education as well as their personal development.

I am a true believer in the power of a positive relationship as the most important motivator in the life of a young adult. Asking students to learn without giving the emotional and academic support needed is like asking a fish to swim without water. It is my number one priority to make sure that every student who attends Crossroads Academy feels valued by the adults in the building. Research tells us that no two students learn exactly the same way and all students need to feel supported to maximize their personal potential.

In an effort to provide this support to our students, our classes have a maximum size of 15 students. All of our teachers are highly qualified in their content area.  In our middle school program, teachers design lessons that follow the Georgia Standards of Excellence to meet the individual needs of each student while maintaining the current grade level instruction. Our Whitfield County high school students use Edgenuity, a computer based on-line program, to complete required courses for graduation. Th Edgenuity on-line program is aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

In addition to the academic component of Crossroads Academy, our students also participate in group counseling sessions and other individual/group activities. In each of these, students are given opportunities and tools to practice more effective coping skills when dealing with problems. We also have a reward system for students who demonstrate good attendance, academics and attitude.

One final support offered to our students is staff, parents and students all working together. Parent involvement on a regular basis is highly encouraged. Please talk with your child daily about their progress in school.

All of these resources working hand in hand help pave the way for every student to experience success while at Crossroads Academy. They also pave the way for a positive return to their home school campus. Always feel free to share your concerns or suggestions with us. Our phone number is 706.271.2495 and my email address is: Drop me a line anytime.
